How I Motivate Myself During The Toughest Of Times

Perhaps these tips may help you through your darkest moments too

The darkest of times in my life were some of the most pivotal, perhaps also the most memorable. But it is because of those times that I have become the person I am today.

Everyone has experienced those moments in life.

From heartbreaking breakups to the saddest deaths, no one is free from having suffered and those who are successful have only endured the hardest of times to get to where they are today.

For me personally, I have been through many emotional and physical struggles during my life. However, what’s interesting is that throughout my journey, I have also learnt many lessons and discovered countless techniques that helped me cope with these struggles.

This is what I want to share with you today and it’s the reason I wrote this article because I hope that perhaps one day, you’ll find use in some of what I have to say and it might perhaps help you through your personal struggles as well!

Turn Anger Into Focus

Aggression can be a double-edged sword.

It can either be used as a weapon to bring you down or it can be used as a boost to push you back up.

By taking advantage of the immense power of anger and channelling it into the right form of action, huge advantages can be gained from it!

Whenever I find myself getting angry, whether it is from an argument or failure, I try and funnel all that anger I have into my work which often results in a dramatic increase in my productivity!

Music Helps A Me Lot…Especially Depressing Songs

I’m not sure why but whenever I feel lonely or depressed (which is almost every day), I find that listening to depressing songs calms me down a lot.

Perhaps it’s maybe because I relate to the song in some way or it might just be that the melody is really soothing, I just don’t know.

Whatever the case, do try this tip out and a good playlist I recommend is the Easy playlist on Spotify.

Watch Motivational Videos On Youtube

This is my go-to strategy whenever I feel either demotivated, bored or are constantly procrastinating.

One of my favourite YouTubers to watch is TechLead as on his channel he shares a lot about his personal life, his struggles, his success and he also gives a lot of life advice as well!

What I found is that for some reason, the experience of watching successful people talk about their own failures and pitfalls in life can sometimes be really therapeutic whilst it also helps me to get to grips with my own difficulties in life!

Light A Candle In The Dark

This is one of those weird things I find myself doing in those times where I feel so depressed that nothing feels worth doing anymore.

First I close all the blinds, curtains, and doors, shutting myself in a room. Then I’d find a small candle and light it in the darkness.

For a moment the flickering of the flames as the candle burns becomes the most comforting thing in the world and all the worries in the world seem to fade like the smoke.

I’d watch the flame burn all the way down the wick and once it goes out, I’d open the curtains and see a whole different world in my eyes.

Deep inside, I know that feeling won’t last long but as long as it stays with me, I hold on to it as tightly as I can.
