“Kendra, my office,” Ian said, his British accent a little more pronounced.
That meant he was pissed. It also meant her body betrayed her. Her pulse throbbed between her legs as she finished sending the email she’d been writing.
She held back a smile. This was the last time she had to come running when he bellowed. She walked with her head held high. There were murmurs as she made her way through the office, but she didn’t let herself care.
She knew all the men in the office coined her the ‘Ice Queen.’ In her experience, men and women were equally petty when their ego was threatened.
Different things threatened different people. In PR, the person with the most A-list celebrities won. That was Kendra. She wasn’t about to pass off clients to other people just so she could get invited to their monthly poker game.
She was officially starting her own firm. She’d strategically waited until many of her client’s contracts were up. Most of them were free agents, and she was taking them with her.
“Ian,” she said as she stepped into his office.
“Close the door,” Ian said.
Kendra swallowed. A dozen pairs of eyes watched as she closed the door. She turned and looked at her boss — former boss.
“When were you planning to tell me?” he asked.
“I gave plenty of notice.”
“Really? I don’t remember receiving notice you were taking eighty percent of your client list with you.” He held up a paper that probably listed all her clients.
“I need clients to start my own firm.”
He huffed out a breath and rubbed his hands over his face. He’d been in this business long enough that he shouldn’t be surprised.
“Usually people take a few clients, maybe fifty percent of their list.”
“What can I say? I have loyal clients.”
He speared her with his blue-eyed gaze. Why did that always make her press her thighs together? Ian had to be in his fifties. His black hair was more salt than pepper. She rarely saw him in anything but a suit, yet she knew he still looked as good in athletic shorts as he had when he’d been a professional soccer player.
“You won’t be able to run a company all by yourself. You’ll need to learn to inspire a little loyalty in your co-workers.”
“I don’t need any advice. I’ll be fine, thanks.”
“Kendra, not everything that comes out of my mouth is a personal criticism.” He stood from his desk, paced to the window and looked out at the horizon. On a clear day, the ocean was visible from his window. “I do know how to run a fairly successful business,” he added.
She snorted. He had the most lucrative marketing firm in L.A. And she’d risen to the top of his PR department, despite the rest of the team trying to push her down. She also happened to be the only woman in the PR department.
“I’ll hire people who believe in working together as a team,” she said. “Not like the cutthroat culture you’ve built here.”
“And how do you intend to do that?”
She wasn’t sure, but she’d figure it out.
“No ready answer? You’d best figure it out before your protégé stabs you in the back as well.”
Her eyebrows pinched together. Did he see her as his protégé? He was harder on her than anyone else. “I’m not stabbing you in the back. I told you I was leaving.”
“But again, you didn’t warn me you were taking all your clients with you.”
“They’re my clients. I brought them to IKA Management.”
He turned back to her, the corner of his mouth curved up. “There are a couple on this list that were handed to you.” He held up the paper, still clenched in his hand.
She couldn’t deny that, but most of her clients had been hard won. She’d built a solid reputation.
He walked over to where she stood and sat on the edge of his desk where he laid the paper next to his hip. Her gaze snagged on his big hands, then shot to his face before she got sidetracked by his groin. That was another thing it would be a relief to get away from, her attraction to her boss.
Ian reached back and rubbed at his own shoulder. He had an old sports injury that bothered him sometimes. Tension in his body had to make it worse. But that was none of her business. Her boss — former boss — was none of her business.
“Eyes up here, Kendra,” he said softly.
When had her eyes strayed to his crotch again? Her cheeks flamed hot, but she lifted her chin a notch when she saw the laughter in his eyes.
“Well, I’ll be damned,” he said.
He reached out and rubbed his thumb along her cheekbone. “I’ve never seen you blush. Not once. Not even after all the bullshit stories the guys used to toss around to make you uncomfortable.”
“You knew about that?”
Her eyes darted all over the room as she thought back to when she’d first joined the team. She’d never complained. She’d thought that was why the hazing had stopped, because she hadn’t shown them it affected her. Well, that and Craig had been…she looked up at Ian.
“You fired Craig because of me?”
He shrugged. “Hostile work environment and all that. I’m fine with competition, not sexual harassment.”
Once Craig was gone, the hazing had downshifted to excluding Kendra from any social gatherings, but talking about it constantly.
His gaze was on her mouth. Did he want to kiss her? He lifted his eyes to meet hers. The raw power in those blue depths had her nipples hardening. “Five years,” he said.
He leaned in and kissed her. She grabbed the lapels of his jacket and pulled him close. Her mind screamed the same words. Five years. She’d wanted him for five, long years.
The chemistry she’d thought was one sided exploded between them. Hands moved, grabbed, clung. The world spun until she landed gently on his desk, his hand cupping her skull to take the brunt of the impact as he lay her down.
Ian slid his hands under her sweater. The rough pads of his fingers on her skin had goosebumps fanning out from where he touched her. Her nipples were stiff peaks by the time he reached them. He pinched and plucked her through the lace of her bra. She arched into his touch.
He pushed the hem of her sweater up until it bunched beneath her armpits. He lowered the cup of her bra and sucked one stiff nipple into his mouth as he played with the other.
Her sex life had always been pretty tame. She’d never done anything crazy like fuck her boss on his desk when people were working on the other side of the wall. But maybe this did it for her because her panties were damp.
And Ian knew it when he worked his way down her body. She could tell by the way he groaned and licked his lips when he spread her legs and pushed her skirt up to her hips. He pulled her to the end of the desk and fell to his knees.
Kendra shifted up onto her elbows so she could watch him. Seeing such a tall, well built man on his knees between her thighs was one of the sexiest things she’d ever seen.
His gaze was locked on her panties as he pulled her ass to the edge of the desk. He leaned in and kissed his way up her inner thigh. When he pressed a gentle kiss to her clit, she gasped. The thin layer of her panties between them did nothing to stem the sensation.
“Shh. You need to be quiet or I’ll have to stop.” He lifted her hips with his hands and yanked her panties down her legs. He looked up at her, his eyebrows raised.
She nodded. She’d try to be quiet.
Then he gave her a smile she’d never seen on him before. It was bigger, badder, and much more wicked than any grin she’d ever seen on Ian’s face.
He rubbed his thumbs up and down her labia before spreading her open and pressing his tongue inside her. He groaned as he lapped at her.
Kendra covered her mouth with her hand, but that didn’t stop the needy little noises her throat was making. She tried to take a deep breath, but Ian slid two fingers inside, stretching her. Then he moved his mouth up and flicked at her clit.
She laid back because her arms flung out to grab the edges of the desk. She needed something to hold on to or she was going to fly away. He was playing with her, teasing her. She tried to get closer to his tongue.
“If you need something, take it,” he said.
Kendra reached down, fisted her hand in his hair and pressed him against her. He rewarded her by sucking her clit into his mouth. He undulated his tongue against her while he sucked and sucked.
She opened her mouth but slapped her arm over it before any sound came out. Luckily, the sweater she had on muffled most of the scream she couldn’t hold back. Stars danced in her vision. Her body jolted and convulsed as pleasure so sharp it was almost painful burst from her core like a star. Did she have beams of light shooting out of her fingers and toes? It felt like it.
Ian stood, licking his lips as he ended his pants. “I don’t carry rubbers like a college student, so we have a couple options,” he said.
“I’m on birth control,” Kendra said.
He closed his eyes. “Fuck. Kendra. You have no idea how much I would love to feel you bare. Are you sure?”
She nodded before she had the chance to over-analyze.
“I’m not going to try to talk you out of it. Even my fantasies always involved a rubber.”
She opened her mouth to demand he tell her about his fantasies, but he was already at her opening, pushing inside. He moved slow and steady, not stopping until his pelvis touched hers.
His blue eyes burned into hers. “You’re going to come for me again.”
She shook her head. She’d never come twice so quickly, not even with her vibrator. She’d also never come as hard as she had from his mouth on her. Surely her body would take even longer to recover.
His eyes flashed with challenge. She hadn’t meant to throw down the gauntlet. Ian leaned down and whispered in her ear. “You feel so fucking good, squeezing me so tight. I don’t know how long I can actually last, but I’m going to try to hold back until you’re ready to go again.”
He was always pushing her like that. Just as her anger snapped to life, he started to move inside her. The friction was too good. It was more, it was better. No wonder guys wanted to fuck without protection.
He started out with slow, deep thrusts. Pulling out, then thrusting all the way back in. She could feel something building within her again. She tried to tamp it down, but made the mistake of clenching her muscles. That backfired, ratcheting her up even more and making Ian curse quietly.
“I’ve never felt anything as good as you stretched around my cock,” he said.
When he felt her response, that wicked grin split his face again and he leaned over her, talking low in her ear.
“I knew it,” he said. “You like dirty talk. Fuck. I’m happy to tell you exactly how it feels to be deep inside you. Oh, fuck, yeah. Squeeze me again… that’s it. I’m not going to last long, but you’re jumping off the cliff with me.”
He reached between them and found her clit with his thumb. He rubbed the rough pad up and down, up and down, groaning when she squeezed him again. He quietly chanted in her ear and it was the words as much as his fingers and his cock that pushed her past the breaking point.
Their eyes met. He must have seen the utter overwhelm in hers because his lids closed and he growled in her ear.
She thought she’d feel him come inside her since there was no barrier, but all she could feel was the tightening and releasing of her own muscles as pleasure arced inside her. She melted against the wood surface of his desk.
He fell on top of her, panting. “Not so much an ice queen, are you?”
“Is that why you did this?” She pushed him off of her and pulled her sweater and skirt back down. “Because it was a challenge? To see if you could fuck the Ice Queen?”
He laughed. “I’ve wanted you for five years, long before were roped with that name.”
“Kendra.” He sighed. “I’m happy to see you stretching your wings. I just didn’t realize it would cut into my bottom line quite this much.”
“So this was just a goodbye fuck?”
Ian chuckled. “For a woman as amazing as you are, you don’t really see your value, do you?”
“Value as what?”
“Whatever you want to be,” he waved his arms in a circle. “But mostly as a woman, outside the job. I’m glad you’re leaving, Kendra, but mostly because I’ve wanted you since the day you walked into my office.”
Ian ran a hand through his hair as he paced back and forth in front of her. “I had to decide that day if I wanted to be your mentor or your lover. I couldn’t be both. Now, your actions have laid another choice at my feet. I chose not to let you go without a fight.”
Kendra bit her lip as she absorbed his words. “I like the way you fight,” she said.
Ian shook his head and laughed as he walked toward her. “Wait until you see how I make up.”Recommend0 Simily SnapsPublished in
