The Past Is Relived In The Now

The past is lived again and again,
as memories interfere with our now.
 looks like we choose our behaviors,
but in front of the subconscious, we bow.

Remembering is neither bad nor good;
it just is, it manifests itself.
The way it affects us makes it one of the two;
We don’t  really put it on a shelf.

The past might enslave if we let it,
almost every present moment.
Blurring the view of a wide field;
showing us the tree, instead of the forest.

The mind is able to act
on many levels simultaneously.
We can be aware of them
unless we focus on one of these only.

Then the forest becomes dark.
Black smoke is spread in everything.
Confusion and anti-clarity
rule the process of decision-making.

Forgetting isn’t necessary;
just don’t “invest” attention in the past.
Emotions independent from past events,
make us freer and lighter at last.
