Rina came home late from work. She had a rather difficult day filled with meetings and disagreements. However, the idea of her reaching home soon comforted her. No matter how bad the day was, coming into her house was a blessing she knew not everyone could have because she was coming home to her dream house. She had a simple two-story house with a small front yard filled with her favorite flowers. She designed this house to be cozy, homey, comfortable, and most importantly, simple. She did not believe in too much luxury at home. As a child, Rina moved around a lot to the point that she remembered moving more than the apartment itself. With this in mind, her dream was to have a permanent home where her kids can grow up with security and a feeling of home she never had as a child. When she saw her house, she felt a sense of pride and gratitude because she had worked hard to have this house. As she entered the house, she touched the surfaces of her furniture and said thank you in her mind. She went to the bedroom to quickly put on something more comfortable and then decided to go to the kitchen. The kitchen and bathroom were her favorite part of the house. She did not spend much on furnishings (because all of her furnishings were simple), except for the kitchen and bathroom - of course!
The kitchen was L-shaped, open, and connected to the dining room and living room. She hated the idea of the kitchen being so isolated from the whole house. She always wanted a kitchen that was open to everything. And so her kitchen was open and connected to the other parts of the house. The walls were painted beige and white, and of course, it's filled with white cabinets combined with wooden countertops. In the middle, there was a large counter table where she could have a quick meal, mostly breakfast and lunch. The kitchen was located in the far corner of the house, which was important as it was well designed so as not to diminish or overcrowd the house. The lighting, the windows, and the color scheme were planned to make the house look cozy and bigger. It was all perfect and exactly how she had envisioned it.
Although she smiles so gratefully at the sight of her kitchen, nothing can beat the scene she was seeing at the moment because he was too. And he was preparing dinner. His tall stature and broad shoulders hunched over the counter table suggested that he was completely focused on the food he was preparing. A beautiful kitchen with a handsome man in it, the thought made her feel like a teenager. A very good combination: man and food. There was something sexual about it. Something desirable. On days like this, when he gets home before her, he prepares dinner. They did not talk about it being a rule or an arrangement, in fact, they did not talk about any rules for housework, those rules were a mutual understanding. This was their home and they built it together; it's only right that they help each other. But since he was so considerate and helpful, he usually cooks dinner. Rina cannot help but feel happy and grateful that Adam was one of those men who help around the house, a perfect gentleman who does not think that it was too feminine to help around the house or that housework was only for women. She felt so lucky to be with him. He looked so handsome standing in the kitchen, completely focused on dinner. She had always loved his broad shoulders, but every time he was on his back like that and deeply concentrated, she finds it even more masculine and sexy. He was wearing his favorite white tattered shirt and comfortable sweatpants. She smiled as she thought about how he must have had that shirt since college. It was one of his precious owned items to remind him about his humble beginnings and the hard work he did. With his old shirt, still, through Rina's eyes, he had never looked so perfect. Adam was a very handsome man, with thick, full eyebrows with narrow, dreamy brown eyes that wrap around the corners of his eyes and disappear every time he smiled, fully formed lips perfect for kissing and pouting, and a smile that could steal anyone's heart. Most of the time, Rina was drawn to him because of the little things he did that show how truly kind, helpful, and true gentleman he was that as if his good looks and charm were just bonuses. Rina would not deny that she initially noticed Adam because of his looks, but she fell in love with who he truly was. He was a compassionate, passionate, and sincere man, the man of her dreams.
Before she reached home, he already sensed the heaviness of her voice and the stress of the day at her work through their phone call earlier, he suggested that she rest while he prepared dinner. Earlier she felt tired, but after seeing him she suddenly felt refreshed, as if she had splashed cold water on her face on a very hot day, and suddenly her tiredness and exhaustion had magically disappeared. He insisted that she take a nap or lie down in the bedroom, but she just could not do that. She missed him and wanted to be with him more. So instead of taking a nap as he suggested, here she was in the kitchen. The best idea they had with this house is an open kitchen, because every time he or she cooked, they could still have conversations since one can sit at the counter table while the other cook.
"Honey, I told you to take a nap, you look so tired," said Adam as he heard her approach him and sensed her presence. They always had that connection. They knew when they were in the same room. They don't know how, but they feel it.
"I suddenly did not feel like sleeping..." replied Rina. She couldn't stand not being with him. After all these years, she still couldn't resist not being with him. He was mixing the sauce for the salad when she came up to him and hugged him from behind. She holds onto him so tightly as if her life depended on that hug. She wanted to feel his hard, muscular body and smell his perfume. She felt so comfortable hugging him, it was like hugging your favorite childhood pillow. Her soft body automatically leaned against his slender body. She pressed her chest against his back, it felt so warm and so safe. Her arms wrapped around his slender waist. Slowly she smelled him and felt the fabric of his tattered shirt against her cheek. His scent was a combination of garlic, chicken broth, lemon, and his own masculine perfume. She slowly kissed the indentation on his shoulders as she thought of how lucky she was to be with this man. "I miss you," she whispered to him. This was what she needed after such a long day.
"Dinner will be delayed if you keep distracting me," he teased her.
"I don't care." She said, at this moment, she wanted him more than the food. And she meant it.
He set the gravy bowl down, "Are you okay?" he asked, turning to look at her. He got worried because she usually put food above all else since she was a foodie and he knew that very well. Rina's favorite saying would be: "Don't make me hungry, I don't like it when I'm hungry!" Rina turned into the Hulk whenever she felt hungry. When he turned around, she felt like she was seeing him again for the first time. She memorized his face, the way the tip of his nose curved when he spoke, and the shape of the corners of his mouth, so serious at that moment because of all the concern shown on his face.
"I'm fine. I just miss you and want you more than food right now," she answered him as she touched his temples and felt the softness of his thick eyebrows. She felt him relax his tense temple muscles, but his dreamy slanted eyes were staring directly into her fierce brown eyes. She moved closer to him, "Thank you for preparing dinner." She told him as she tried to stand on her tiptoe to reach him and kiss his lips. He returned the kiss and pulled her closer to him. She needed this kind of kiss, so relaxing, so gentle. Rina wrapped her arms around his neck as their kiss deepened. She opened her mouth wider as his tongue touched and explored her mouth. It felt so damn good. They had been kissing all these years, and yet it felt so wonderful every time as great as their first kiss. She moaned deliciously under his perfect kiss as she felt his hands move down to her lower back, down to her hips, and then caressed her bottom, so gently, and felt both their desire rising. With the way he was caressing her, her heart started to beat faster and her insides throb. Fire, she thought! A delicious fire was building. And yet this fire was warm and relaxing. He turned and carried Rina so she could seat on the kitchen counter. When she was sitting comfortably, she automatically wrapped her legs around his waist. Their bodies became closer and the only thing separating them was their clothing, but she could feel his warmth mixing with her own.
"What're you doing?" he asked as he broke the kiss.
"Nothing," said Rina so innocently. "I was trying to stop time." He smiled knowingly. That's how they met. With that sentence: how to stop time, kiss!
"You're a distraction." He whispered, slowly kissing her neck. As he did that her spine tingled, she moaned softly and his hands lazily traced circles around her exposed thigh, slowly moving up and down, their eyes never losing contact. Rina softly trembled at his touch and kiss. It felt like she was being rewarded for distracting him, and yet it also felt like torture as her body longed for more. Mixed emotions, he always had that effect on her. He gently massaged her thighs as she gently massaged his temples. The feeling was just so damn good like she was in a warm bath, all her senses felt alive yet relaxed. Adam was still kissing her neck as his fingers play with the edges of her shorts when she asked, "What's for dinner?"
"Well, just salad and grilled chicken on a lemon garlic sauce," he said. "But I think I need some help with the sauce, I don't know if it tastes good." He grabbed a spoon and dipped it into the bowl of sauce he ignored moments ago. Rina thought he was going to feed her so she could taste it, but instead, he put the spoon in his mouth, she gave a confused look, but before she could say something, he kissed her. She smiled.
"Yes, it's good," she told him after they broke the kiss, her arms were still wrapped around his neck. Her nose playfully touched his.
"It did not taste like that earlier,” he grinned. “That made it better," he teased. Slowly he lowered a strap off her shoulder and put a drop of the sauce on her shoulder, she was surprised but before she could protest he started kissing and licking the sauce off. "Now it's even better." He continued to tease. She laughed and pulled him close so she could kiss his mouth. "What do you want to do, my dearest wife?" he asked. Wife, her mind screamed, yes, they're indeed married and yet still passionate for each other's love. She looked at his dreamy eyes. She knew they both want the same thing. She gently pulled him towards her and kissed him again. He pulled her closer to him as well. His hand gently stroked her back as she wrapped her legs tighter around his waist. She liked their closeness and intimacy. For her, it surpassed all the romantic scenes she had seen in movies. "I want to feel this moment and stop time," she whispered in his ear and gently licked his earlobe. Adam responded with a tight hug and yet it felt so good. She held on to him too. This moment was just for her and him. They both wanted to enjoy this quiet moment. These were the moments when they feel the true meaning of "forever" and "eternity." She knew then in her heart that there's no eternity, no one lives that long. She knew that forever only meant that time had stopped, or that there was simply no time. When they took their wedding vows, they didn't promise each other eternity, but they did promise each other that they'd always make each other feel forever and ever. Rina had no idea how long they were embracing like that, it felt like an eternity. But of course, they can't stay like that forever, because before they know it, their kids woke up from their nap. And already they were already making a racket upstairs.
"The soldiers are on foot, General." He said, letting go of her.
"What do you want us to do, Cap?" she asked back.
"Feed them and put them back to bed." He teased, "to pick up where we left off." He smiled playfully. Rina loved that smile. She's crazy about that smile.
"So divide and conquer is our strategy." She teased and he laughed agreeing with her.
