The Three Ws

Hi all! Are you ready to get started? This is one of the most important things you’ll do when prepping to write a book. Asking yourself the “W” questions will help you become more clear on what you’re writing and why.

Consider the following questions about your project to establish expectations and goals, both for the book and yourself

    What

What do you want your book to accomplish for you, professionally?

What do you want your book to accomplish for you, personally?

What do you want your reader to come away with?

What must this book accomplish in order for you to feel it was a success?

What one big idea must your book convey?

    Who

Who will benefit most from your book?

Who will want to read it?

    Who is this book for?
(ex: who is the first person you’ll send your manuscript to?)

Who will be affected by the stories in the book?

Who do you need to warn before you release the book?

    Why

    Why write this?

Why are you the one to write it?

Why is now the time to write it?

Why will it improve people’s lives?

You don’t have to share your answers but you certainly can if you’d like feedback or help, or if you just want to!
